Oh dear again!  In my profile under 'About Me' it seems not to accept paragraph breaks.  Is this correct or is there a way to achieve them please, anyone?!

Personal Details

  • About Me I’m an American living and working in the UK for two years. I am a qualified doctor of medicine, now studying neuroscience with a view to training and qualifying either as a pediatrician or a neurosurgeon. Yikes, so many, many years of training ahead! I’m madly in love with my fiancé who has now moved over here too, and he is working close to the college I am attending. We have moved into the cutest, old, small house which is perfect and ideal for work and socially. We’re getting married back home in America in June 2011. A young boy went up to his father and asked him: “Dad, what is the difference between ‘potentially’ and ‘realistically’?” The father thought for a moment, then answered: “Go ask your mother if she would sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars. Then ask your sister if she would sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars, and then ask your brother if he’d sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars. Come back and tell me what you learn from that.” So the boy went to his mother and asked: “Would you sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars?” The mother replied: “Of course I would! We could really use that money to fix up the house and send you kids to a great university!” The boy then went to his sister and asked: “Would you sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars?” The girl replied: “Oh my Gawd! I LOVE Brad Pitt, I would sleep with him in a heartbeat, are you nuts?” The boy then went to his brother and asked: “Would you sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars?” “Of course” the brother replied. “Do you know what a million bucks would buy?” The boy pondered the answers for a few days and then went back to his dad. His father asked him: “Did you find out the difference between ‘potentially’ and ‘realistically’?” The boy replied: “Yes, ‘potentially’ you and I are sitting on three million dollars. But ‘realistically’ we’re just living with two hookers and a queer.” “When God created Man… She was only kidding!”
  • Things I Dislike I am the first in my family to have attended college and my folks and friends back home are very proud of me. I come from a large but poor family, but one which is rich in love and laughter, which is way more important I think. My folks scrimped and saved to send a bright kid who loved school and academe, to college, and to college (Harvard Medical School) I went on a scholarship... and oh boy what a cool time I had... it was so much fun (and I worked [and played] damn hard.) Through sheer hard work [and sure being bright academically] (I think luck but my professors and friends say not so) I gained another scholarship to Oxford University, UK, which I am currently attending. In my childhood and teens, I do not recall ever having any new clothes when growing up – all six of us had hand-me-downs, but we always had new shoes (violins play in the background.) If you are an inverted snob and for some bizarre reason resent those (like me) who are educated, then for the record, my mom had three jobs, every day, to supplement the family income. My dad, a highly decorated Vietnam veteran, was a plumber, and in a small town in Vermont where we lived, there was little demand for his services, and thus his income was small. But pro bono and consuming hours of his time every week, he visited, shopped for, and did jobs about the house for elderly people in the community. My point is this: please do not feel resentful towards me simply because I am a doctor of medicine – someone has to be! And to whom would you turn if you, your family, your kids were ill? Why to a doctor of course! In Chat, education and qualifications (especially in respect of those who are relatively young like me) prompts such resentment and in many cases real hatred – and I mean hate. I have many friends in real life, and we all believe this attitude to be quite bizarre. Are those who resent someone like me, so very unhappy, mentally and or physically ill, have an inferiority complex – in their real life? Sadly, so sadly, it would appear that the answer is a resounding ‘YES’ to all four questions posed in my last paragraph. My response to people like that is: “GROW UP.” And: “STOP WHINING” [about your lot in life.] On MSN Chat there were many people who were very ill and housebound, but they never mentioned it and few people knew. On Buzzen Chat so many who are unwell, whine every day, all day – which is pitiful. Whining does not make one feel better that day. But being positive, perhaps putting on a facade (which may be tough to do) and appearing happy DOES make one feel better both mentally and physically – and, one will leave the Chat Room feeling better, and of course happier. This is a medical fact. And finally, (thank God I can hear you all say!) Chat should be F U N. Not asinine or for those adults with a pre-pubescent and crude sense of humor, and nor for those whose sole agenda (and there are many) is to be envious of, attack, be rude to, and abuse others for no good reason – that is NOT Chatting, period. Here endeth the lesson, amen Lord!
